I don't remember how I found MetaFilter. It was ages ago, somewhere in the early nothings. I know that when 911 happened I was glued to that thread, since that was one of the only places I could reliably get news - and I thought then: this is an important thing these people have made. I don't know if I read the site regularly back then, but it had gotten my attention.
It still has it.
One big blue tribe
I have learned so much from this site, I am not entirely sure who or what I'd be without it. There are so many interesting things in the world and so many interesting people talking about them.
I'm a shy lurky-reader sort, so I don't know anybody on the site too well (except for a few people who'd been friends of mine before joining up), but that's all right. If I have a question or a problem, I know exactly where to go. It feels like I've found my tribe, on the internet and all over the world, and that's a wonderful thing.
